Learning ideas for April 13-17: Back to Yoga

I am missing seeing you all in class! I hope you are all doing well and practicing some of the yoga techniques that you have learned in class. Also, if you have anything you would like to share on "Fill the Well" fine arts blog please email me at naromanchuk@cbe.ab.ca

Please consider checking out the yoga links on Willow parks student services blog

Here are some activities to try this week:

Yoga Breathing

Calm Breathing- Breathe in through your nose, hold and breathe out through your mouth. Whenever you are feeling anxious, stressed, frustrated or just need a break, try this breathing.

Here is a link to a visual guide for this breathing on youtube

Other Yoga Activities

1. Gratitude Journal:

Start writing a daily Quarantine gratitude journal. What are you grateful for today?

2. Random Acts of Kindness:

What can you do today for someone in your household? Consider some of the following ideas. I am sure you can also come up with many on your own.
  • Reach out to someone: Facetime, skype, zoom or phone your family members and friends- have you spoken to your grandparents? cousins? aunts? uncles? siblings?
  • Send an email card: Write a message on a free email card and send it to someone you love
  • Make a homemade card: Write a gratitude message to someone in your home and let them know what you love and appreciate about them
  • Help around the house: Empty the dishwasher without being asked, help fold laundry, set the table or help make a meal
  • Snow Angel: Is there someone elderly in your neighborhood? Is there someone else who needs the extra help? Can you shovel their drive way and sidewalk for them?
  • Free Compliments: Tell someone in your household a loving, kind compliment and see how this can make their day

My favorite yoga video this week is of cats and dogs interrupting yoga: youtube
